Record-Setting Women's Tennis Streak Ends to Reigning Conference Runner-Up

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph's five-match winning streak was on the line against the league's runner-up from 2014.

Roanoke took the decision over Randolph, 5-0, in a match played to decision.

At top doubles, junior Dina Velazco and sophomore Jenna Sweet fell, 8-4.

At No. 2, junior Sarah Parker and sophomore Heather Parra went to the limit, but fell in a close match, 9-7.

Senior Tiandre Forde and sophomore Anna McKenzie dropped their third doubles decision, 8-2.

At No. 1 singles, Velazco fought to force a super-tiebreaker, but fell, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).

Forde dropped the No. 5 singles match to force the decision.

The match started at the Randolph tennis courts, but finished at The Sports Racket as indoor cover was needed to avoid the rain.

Randolph hosts Sweet Briar on Monday and travels to Hollins Tuesday trying to get back in the win column.
