Milestones for Risse and David Headline Men's Lacrosse's Trip to Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Two milestones gave Randolph a boost in men's lacrosse action against Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday.

Juniors Andrew Risse and Cam Davis put their names in the Randolph record book once again with their efforts in a 16-10 loss to VWC.

Risse had a goal and three assists to break his own single season program record for points.

In doing so, he tied Colton Wood's career points mark at 113.

In goal, Davis became the second player in Randolph history to exceed 500 career saves with his first of 10 today, joining Kevin McCracken on that exclusive list.

The WildCats scored the first goal in each of the four periods.

Randolph got off to a hot start today with the first two goals of the game.

The WildCats kept the hosts off the scoreboard for the first 10:2 as junior Andrew Gleitz and first-year Kadri Hearns scored.

After VWC scored the final three of the period, however.

A 13-goal second period really swung the game, as Randolph received goals from three sophomores, but VWC scored nine.

Shane Soghomonian and Ryan Campbell each had one, while Graham Southwick had a pair in the period.

The third period was a complete change from the second, with just two goals scored combined, with none scored in the first 11:29.

Campbell had Randolph's opener in that period, while the Marlins closed the period with a tally.

Gleitz had the first goal of the fourth quarter off a pass from Campbell and junior Bobby Crosby and Risse added ones later in the period.

Randolph is next in action on Saturday at home against Shenandoah at 1 p.m.

That game is the team's Tie-Dye Day to raise awareness for general cancer research.
