Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Junior Andrew Risse became the first player in program history with 20 assists in a season this afternoon.

Breaking his own school record, Risse assisted on a goal today to break a deadlock at 19 assists for the program's most helpers in a year.

Bridgewater earned the victory, however, 16-8, in the second half of a doubleheader at WildCat Stadium.

Sophomore Shane Soghomonian scored half of Randolph's goals to continue his torrid pace recently.

He has a dozen points over the last four games for the WildCats.

Soghomonian had two of Randolph's three first quarter tallies, with sophomore Ryan Campbell adding the other.

In the second, Risse set up Soghomonian for the hat trick and record breaking assist on a man-up opportunity.

Soghomonian added his final goal in the third, as Randolph's only goal of that period.

The team started the fourth with momentum, however, scoring the first three goals.

First-year Kadri Hearns scored after Baden James won the faceoff, scooped up his own ground ball and ran down the field, just 12 second into the frame.

James, who has only taken 25 draws this year, leads the ODAC in ground balls among non faceoff specialists and leads the conference in caused turnovers.

The junior had six ground balls to go with his one caused turnover on the day, in addition to his sixth point of the year with a long pole.

Junior Corey Nehlig added a goal on a man-up shot off a feed from sophomore Mitch MacDonald next.

Junior Brian Crosby struck off a pass from Hearns to end Randolph's scoring summary.

Thomas Maher was the difference-maker for the Eagles, scoring eight goals on the day, while goalkeeper Andrew Buss stopped 17 shots.

For Randolph, sophomore Spencer Matthews caused three turnovers and had five ground balls.

Randolph heads to Virginia Wesleyan next for a Wendesday matchup.
