Parra Delivers Another Women's Tennis Win in Clutch Finale

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph earned a fourth straight women's tennis win, once again with some late heroics.

As was the case against Bridgewater on Friday, Randolph fell behind but rallied to win with sophomore Heather Parra sealing the deal with the teams tied at 4-4.

Once again, Randolph dug itself a hole early, dropping two of the three matches in doubles play.

Junior Dina Velazco and sophomore Jenna Sweet were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, but that was the only point Randolph would receive in that segment.

Parra and junior Sarah Parker at No. 2 doubles and seniors Danielle Lewis and Tiandre Forde at No. 3, both fell.

Each of the top four singles players rallied to win, however, giving Randolph the victory.

Lewis fell at No. 5 in straight sets while Forde was undone by a nailbiting 10-8 super-tiebreaker after she rallied to win the second set.

Velazco swept her two sets at No. 1, while Parker and Sweet won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3.

That, once again, set the stage for Parra.

After taking the first set convincingly, 6-1, she was on the wrong end of the scoreline in set two, 3-6.

In the super-tiebreaker, however, she only dropped three points to win, 10-3.

Randolph is next in action on Friday, hosting Sweet Briar, before visiting Emory and Henry on Saturday.
