Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Methodist came in to today's men's lacrosse game on a five game winning streak, but were set back against Randolph.
Randolph won each of the four quarters in the 17-7 win, pushing Randolph to 4-2 for its best start in program history and one game shy of the program record for wins in a season.
Sophomore Shane Soghomonian had five goals while sophomore Graham Southwick had four of his own.
After Methodist scored early, Soghomonian responded with two straight to put Randolph on top.
With Methodist tying the score, juniors Andrew Gleitz and Baden James teamed up with four seconds left off of a desperation James clearance to put Randolph up at the end of the first quarter.
Soghomonian had two more in the second, while Gleitz and junior Brian Crosby each added another as Randolph had four of the six tallies in the second.
The WildCats pulled away in the third with five of the six goals from sophomore Ryan Campbell, junior Corey Nehlig, Southwick, Risse and Nehlig once again.
Southwick had three more in the fourth and Soghomonian and first-year Ian DiSesa each added one to cap the win.
For DiSesa, his goal marked the first in his career.
Junior Cam Davis had 11 saves in a stellar defensive effort.
James and sophomore Spencer Matthews each caused five turnovers on the day, as well.
The team is now 2-0 on this four-game homestand, with Roanoke and Randolph-Macon still to come on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
