WildCats Warm-up for ODACs with 4-1 Victory over SU

WINCHESTER, VA – The Randolph College men's soccer team ended its regular season with a 4-1 win over Shenandoah University on Saturday.  With the win, the WildCats wrapped up the second seed in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.

The 'Cats came out on the offensive early on, earning two corner kicks and forcing the Hornets goalkeeper Keegan Fairchild to make his first save.  It all came within the first seven minutes.  Then in 10th, Brian Anderson got Randolph on the board with his first goal.

The WildCats kept pushing, trying to get another goal early, with five good chances, but could not get past the defense.  But in the 30th, SU equalized the game with a goal by Matt Sweeney.  However, the tie would not last long, as the relentless Randolph attack continued.

The 'Cats earned three more corner kicks over the next 10 minutes, and finally the attack wore down Shenandoah.  El Hadji Beye scored off a pass from Austin Black, to give the WildCats a 2-1 lead at the half.

The second stanza proved to be the same as the first, as Randolph stayed as the aggressor.  Black had several opportunities but could not find the back of the net.  Adam Watson and Nick Rodriguez also had chances, but failed to score.  However, the WildCats finally added to the advantage at 75:59 as Anderson completed his brace.  Rodriguez tacked on an additional tally in the 89th minute to seal the victory for the WildCats.

Randolph once again controlled the offensive statistics, outshooting the Hornets 18-6.  The 'Cats also earned nine more corner kicks (10-1) then the hosts.  Fairchild stopped six shots for SU (5-10-2 overall, 2-7-2 ODAC).

The WildCats (11-4-3, 7-1-3) will host an ODAC quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday.  The opponent and time will be determined later this weekend.
