Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph had 19 corner kicks today and scored directly off of three of them in a 5-0 victory.
With the win, Randolph wins this weekend's four-team tournament featuring Hampden-Sydney, Penn St. - Abington and today's opponent, Marymount (Va.)
Randolph won yesterday over PSU-A, 1-0, while Hampden-Sydney defeated Marymount by the same scoreline.
Today, Hampden-Sydney defeated the Nittany Lions 4-0, which gave Randolph the title on goal differential.
The first three goals of today's contest all came off the corner kicks of sophomore Blake Heatherly.
Last year's conference scoring leader among defenders tallied three assists, matching the program record, set by Jacob Lusczek last year.
In the first half, sophomore Brian Anderson and first-year Travis Brown used their heads to redirect Heatherly's deep crosses to get Randolph up.
Five minutes after intermission, first-year Cristian Irigoyen was on the receiving end of a second cross attempt after sophomore Kyle Unruh corralled a failed clearance and gave it right back to Heatherly.
"We managed to get a lot of set pieces and I put it where I thought we would come in strong," Heatherly said. "We had great players in the air."
Randolph continued to surge offensively in the run of play just 40 seconds later when the sophomore duo of Unruh and Troy Jurney tacked on a fourth goal, with Unruh taking a centering feed and placing it home.
Jurney later put home a pass from junior Grant Collier to give the game its final scoreline.
In the back, the team earned its third straight shutout, with junior CJ Stevens making a huge save on a breakaway to keep the Saints off the board.
First-year Keith Griese closed the game in net.
The WildCats have only allowed one goal this season through four games.
Stevens's consecutive games without allowing a goal gave him tournament most valuable player honors. He was joined on the all-tournament team by Unruh, Heatherly, Anderson and yesterday's goal scorer, first-year Gabe Everette.
Randolph is back in action Wednesday at Christopher Newport, site of arguably the biggest win in program history.
In 2011, the WildCats topped the No. 2 ranked Captains 2-1 in the first round of the NCAA tournament in a massive upset.
That game is the team's final tune-up before ODAC play begins.
