Men's Soccer Routs Emory & Henry in ODAC Opener

Box Score

EMORY, Va. -- Randolph continued its clean sheet streak and the offense struck five times for an impressive win over Emory & Henry.

Randolph once again earned a tally off of a set piece early, as sophomore Blake Heatherly, who tied a program record with three assists, all off set pieces, last week, put the ball in a dangerous position once again.

First-year Nate Juth put home a loose ball off Heatherly's corner kick, putting Randolph up 1-0.

Just 3:14 later, Juth once again struck, this time off a blocked shot from classmate El Hadji Beye in the six.

Heatherly got his chance to get into the other scoring column off a set piece later, as he sent a long shot in past a keeper, who was fooled by his attempt on net.

After intermission, Randolph got a fourth from sophomore Kyle Unruh, who took a feed from first-year Gabe Everette and deposited the ball into the top left corner.

Junior Joe Uzdavinis sent in a cross later in the half, that Travis Brown directed into the net to make the lead 5-0.

On the other end, CJ Stevens made three stops and sophomore Garrett Walerysiak closed the game in net to complete the team's shutout.

Randolph has now has shut out four straight opponents and hasn't allowed a goal in the flow of play on the year.

Dating back to last year, no opposing player has scored in the flow of play in 10 games. Randolph has allowed just three goals in those 10 games, two of which were penalty kick goals and one was an own goal.

The program's record for a shutout streak was set over the first four games of that streak, totaling 490:58.

Currently, the WildCats have not allowed a goal in 414:43.

Randolph is back in action on Friday with a big battle with Roanoke at WildCat Stadium. Last season, the teams battled in a wild contest, which Randolph won in overtime in Salem, Va.
