Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. -- Senior Lexi Harrington set the program record for career digs as Randolph swept two matches today.
Needing 19 digs coming into today, the senior earned 23 in today's second match alone to take sole possession of the program's most prestigious defensive mark.
The previous record of 1,182 was set by Beth Berman from 1997-2000.
In today's first match, Randolph took care of Ferrum in straight sets, with a strong finish in a 25-23 final set.
Sophomore Alex Mariona led the way with 11 kills.
The day's second match went the distance, as Randolph needed five sets to defeat Meredith.
"Our match with Meredith was a battle," interim head coach Kara Matthews said. "We went back and forth the whole five sets. Both teams were defending very well which made it hard to score."
Once again Mariona played a big role offensively.
"Alex had a spectacular hitting percentage all day," Matthews said.
Senior setter Kerry McMichael was key in the offensive efforts as well.
"I'm very proud of how we maintained control throughout the day against both teams," she continued. "Offensively, we were effective with our front row as well in all three defensive positions. It was definitely a solid win moving forward in our season to prepare us for conference play."
The WildCats are back in action Saturday with two more matches to conclude Roanoke's Maroon Classic.
