ROANOKE, Va. - Another weekend, another tournament for the Randolph WildCats women's volleyball team, taking the short trip to Roanoke for the Maroon Classic. Suffering their first setback of the season, the 'Cats found themselves on the wrong end of day one, starting the tournament 0-2.
Against Greensboro, the ladies fell in three sets: 25-13, 25-16, and 25-19. The team picked up eight aces and four blocks. Kelsey Bowler led both squads with 10 kills, while Carly Schopp tacked on 15 assists. Destanie Ambers chipped in with 18 digs in the loss.
With a small window to rest before game two, Randolph faced off against Methodist, battling tough through all three frames before falling 25-19, 25-22, and 25-17. Bowler went to work once more, tacking on eight more kills. Schopp notched 15 assists, while Ambers picked up 13 digs. She also paced the team in aces with three.
The WildCats return to action on day two of the Roanoke Classic, kicking off the day with a match against N.C. Wesleyan at 9 a.m. before battling Brevard in the 1 p.m. timeslot.
