LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph came from behind after doubles to
earn an important ODAC win.
First-year Alison
Henry (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and
junior Patricia
Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue
Interamericano) fell at first doubles, 8-3.
Sophomore Dina
Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Colegio Las
Fuertes) and first-year Jenna
Sweet (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) also fell,
losing 8-5 at No. 2.
First-year Heather
Parra (Wilmington, N.C./Eugene Ashley) and
sophomore Sarah
Parker (Washington, D.C. / Sidwell
Friends) gave Randolph one point after doubles with an 8-5
win.
After Verdezoto fell at top singles, the other five were all
successful, rallying Randolph to a win.
Henry won a three-set match at No. 2, as did Parker at No. 5.
Velazco, Parra and Sweet were straight-set winners.
The women's team will play its third match in three days at
Sweet Briar on Sunday.
