LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph fell in the first two doubles matches
of the day, but responded for a 6-3 win.
Junior Daniil
Lyalko (Reisterstown, Md./Park School of
Baltimore) and first-year Doug
Corbett (Charlottesville,
Va./Albemarle) lost at top doubles
and first-years Q
Manglapus (Falls Church,
Va./-) and JT von
Seggern (McLean, Va./Langley) lost at No. 2.
Both matches were 8-5 in favor of Shenandoah.
Juniors Zach
Dales (Albuquerque,
N.M./Albuquerque) and Dan
Phung (Hanoi, Vietnam/International) were awarded
a win by default at No. 3 doubles and Dales won without taking the
court at No. 6 singles, allowing Randolph to sit at 2-2 entering
singles competition despite losing both contested matches.
The WildCats made the most of the opportunity, winning each of
the singles matches save for top singles in straight sets, earning
the points needed for a win.
The WildCats host Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday.
