LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee, No. 20 in the nation, defeated Randolph in women's tennis today, 9-0.
In doubles play, all three matches went to W&L by a score of 8-0.
Sophomore Sarah Parker (Washington, D.C. / Sidwell Friends) and junior Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) competed at first doubles.
At second doubles, first-year Jenna Sweet (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) and sophomore Dina Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Colegio Las Fuertes) fell.
Junior Danielle Lewis (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception) joined first-year Heather Parra (Wilmington, N.C./Eugene Ashley) at third doubles.
Verdezoto and Velazco fell at the top two singles spots, 6-0. Sweet fell by the same score at No. 5.
Parra, Parker and Lewis each won games, but couldn't take a set at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
Randolph will next play Roanoke on Friday.
