Powered by Doubles Sweep, Men's Tennis Dispatches of Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph was perfect in doubles play, taking a 3-0 lead early in a 7-2 ODAC victory over cross-town rival Lynchburg on "Teal Day."

Junior Daniil Lyalko (Reisterstown, Md./Park School of Baltimore) and first-year Doug Corbett (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) improved to 5-2 on the year at top doubles with an 8-5 win this afternoon.

First-year players Q Manglapus (Falls Church, Va./-)and JT von Seggern (McLean, Va./Langley) took an 8-2 decision at second singles, while juniors Zach Dales (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque) and Dan Phung (Hanoi, Vietnam/International) cruised to an 8-1 win.

After first-year Tuan Tran (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/High School for the Gifted) was successful at No. 6 singles, Manglapus won at No. 3 to give Randolph its all-important fifth point of the day.

Corbett, playing at No. 2, and Phung, playing at No. 5, also won their matches for the WildCats.

On Tuesday, Randolph will travel to Southern Virginia.

Before the match, Randolph wore teal warm-ups in honor of ovarian cancer awareness. Both tennis teams, as well as both lacrosse programs and softball, have dedicated one day to promoting awareness of a cancer that has affected its program.
