BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Randolph's lone point came today at No. 3 doubles as the WildCats fell to the Eagles, 5-1.
First-year Heather Parra (Wilmington, N.C./Eugene Ashley) and sophomore Sarah Parker (Washington, D.C. / Sidwell Friends) won their match at third doubles, 9-7, but Randolph could not earn any more points on the day.
First-year Alison Henry (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) and junior Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) fell at top doubles, 8-4, and sophomore Dina Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela/Colegio Las Fuertes) and first-year Jenna Sweet (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) came up on the wrong end of an 8-3 decision.
In singles play, Verdezoto split the first two sets with Katie Gordon before dropping a supertiebreaker, 10-6.
Henry and Velazco fell in the only other two singles matches that were played to completion.
Randolph has a quick turnaround, hosting Lynchburg Saturday. The match is a "Teal Day" match, supporting ovarian cancer awareness.
