LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph opened its home slate in style, shooting 72.7% from three in the first half as five players finished in double figures in a 87-54 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg.

Junior Jason Eddie led all scorers with 16, while classmates Corey Brown and Evan Horn had 14 and 13, respectively, and Gordon Rogo and Zach Desgain had a dozen apiece.

Desgain added a game-high 10 rebounds, as he becomes the first WildCat to have consecutive double-doubles since Derrick Woods-Morrow did it in the 2012 ODAC tournament semifinal and final.

Desgain was joined by Horn and first-year Reid Jacoby with five assists, which marked the first time in program history in which three players each had at least five assists.

Randolph made its mark in the program record book, posting point (87) and assist (19) totals that ranked in the top 10 in program history.

After VUL got up 3-0 early, Randolph scored seven straight to take a lead it would never relinquish.

The WildCats scored on all of their next 12 possessions, never coming up empty on any offensive turn over a span of 7:54.

Randolph hit the first five attempts from three to boost its lead and get up by double figures.

The WildCats used that 29-16 advantage and continued to pile on, finishing the first half with a 48-27 lead.

At the break, Randolph was 8-of-11 from three (72.7%) and 19-of-30 (63.3%) overall.

The second half was played within a 10-point window over a span of 17:24 before Randolph finally grew its lead above 30 to reach the final score.

With the win, the WildCats have won three straight home openers. Randolph has won seven or more games at home in each of the last four years, while losing four or fewer each year.

Randolph has won 71.1% of its games at home in that time span.

"It is huge to win the home opener," Desgain said. It's good to get a win in general but to set the tone on our home floor and protect our home floor, especially in the first game, is huge for us."
