Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- With the regular season winding down, two teams battled in a near-elimination game, with Randolph on the right side of a 1-0 decision over Eastern Mennonite.
In the sixth minute, sophomore Brian Anderson hit the post with a left-footed shot from 14 yards, which nearly got Randolph on the board early.
Just past the 20 minute mark, first-year Travis Brown had a chance with a slick backheel shot, but it was cleared off the line by EMU.
In the 59th minute, Brown would have another chance, as he was on the receiving end of a Troy Jurney cross, as the sophmore put the ball deep and allowed Brown to one-touch the ball into the net.

In the 75th minute, Randolph had a shot to double its lead when sophomore Kyle Unruh beat the keeper with a powerful shot, but the ball couldn't reach the back of the net, as a mad scramble on the goal line resulted in a desperation clearance.
Later, first-year Gabe Everette found plenty of space on the right side after a loose ball, but his shot had a bit too much steam and hit off the post, keeping the lead 1-0.
Fortunately for the hosts, however, that was enough.
With a 9-2 edge in shots on goal, goalkeeper CJ Stevens only needed to make two stops to earn the team's eighth clean sheet of the year.
