Men's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Setback at Bridgewater

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Despite controlling possession for the majority of today's contest, Randolph fell, 1-0, at Bridgewater.

In a key matchup between the teams entering today in the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds, it was the home team boosting its playoff position with a victory in men's soccer action.

Randolph took an 11-2 advantage in shots into halftime, but the teams were scoreless after 45:00.

The WildCats had five of the first seven shots in the beginning of the second half, but a flurry of possession from Bridgewater led to a corner kick and two shots, the second of which found the back of the net.

That's all the Eagles needed, as they held on for the victory, despite being outshot 26-14, including an 11-5 deficit in shots on goal.

Sophomore Blake Heatherly was the only WildCat with more than one shot on goal, as three of his eight attempts required saves from goalkeeper Kevin Morris.

Morris made 11 stops, while his counterpart, junior CJ Stevens, made four.

The WildCats host Randolph-Macon on Tuesday at 7 p.m., next.
