Lusczek Provides Golden Goal as WildCats Top N.C. Wesleyan

Box Score

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Jacob Lusczek (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) scored the game winner early in the second overtime to push men's soccer past N.C. Wesleyan.

The senior took a feed from junior Julian Khalili (Falmouth, Va./Stafford) and went right to beat his defender and placed the ball in the top right corner to wrap up the third straight WildCat win, pushing the team to 5-0-1.

The WildCats reached overtime behind a pair of goals from senior Corey Sindle (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester), who put the 'Cats up 1-0 and 2-1 early in each half.

On Sindle's first goal, he went left to beat his defender just 5:36 into the game, but N.C. Wesleyan (1-4-1) responded quickly to level the score midway through the frame.

Sindle's second came off of a deflection, but the Battling Bishops struck on their next shot, leading to a 2-2 scoreline.

Randolph had seven chances in the final 33 minutes of action, but could not find the winner despite senior Will Wolf (Goldsboro, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) striking the post.

In the same time frame, the Battling Bishops took the same number of shots, getting five on cage only to be turned away by senior keeper Carter Smith (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley).

Randolph had three of the four shots in the extra frames, upping their advantage in shots to 17-12. Corner kicks were 17-3 in favor of the visitors, with all 17 coming after intermission.

"It was a great team effort to get a result against a good team," head coach Bryan Waggoner said. "Although the team did not play its best game, we still found a way to win. These are the type of results that eluded us during the 2012 campaign."
