Sindle's Hat Trick Powers WildCats Past Saints

Box Score

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- It took 92 seconds for Corey Sindle (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) to score his first of three goals, as the WildCats cruised to a second victory in as many days. 5-1.

In the second minute, Randolph (2-0) earned a penalty after a Marymount (Va.) infraction in the box, and head coach Bryan Waggoner sent Sindle up to take the shot.

The 2011 ODAC Player of the Year, who had a hand in the team's first goal yesterday, placed it home to put the WildCats up with a lead they would never relinquish.

Kyle Unruh (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) doubled the lead later in the half, scoring an unassisted marker with just under 10 minutes left in the frame.

At the half, the 'Cats held a 10-2 edge in shots over the Saints (0-2). The final shot totals gave the WildCats a 27-5 edge.

Sindle scored two more in a span of 2:13 in the second half to earn his, and the program's, second-ever hat trick. The Gloucester native fell one point shy of his program record for points in a game, 7, which was set in his three-goal game as a first-year.

The second strike came off of a feed from Jacob Lusczek (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) to make the lead 3-0. After a red card brought Marymount down to 10 men, Sindle added his third to make the lead four.

A late goal broke a shutout streak of 162:38 to start the season by Carter Smith (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) and the defense that allowed just two shots on goal today.

In response, Julian Khalili (Falmouth, Va./Stafford) finished off the scoring on a goal assisted by Unruh as time ran down.
