Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team scored four straight to pull to within one midway through the fourth, but Randolph-Macon College scored three of the last four to pull away in earning a 15-12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory in the season finale for the WildCats.
The Yellow Jackets (7-8/3-4 ODAC) netted the first two goals of the game, but senior Stephen Allman (Goodview, Va./Roanoke Catholic) tallied to get the WildCats (5-11/2-7 ODAC) on the board. Randolph-Macon pulled ahead by three, but Colton Wood (Chula Vista, Calif./Otay Ranch) scored and then set up Andrew Gleitz (Plymouth, Ind./Culver Academy) to make the count 4-3.
Randolph-Macon scored three of the next four goals, including once with just four seconds left in the half to enter intermission leading 7-4. The visitors would pull ahead by five just after the start of the fourth quarter, but that's when the WildCats made their comeback. Andrew Risse (Annandale, Va./Blue Ridge Prep.) assisted on three of Randolph's four consecutive tallies to pull Randolph to within one at 12-11.
The Yellow Jackets' Tim Rowe would stop Randolph's stretch, and Ryan Davidson added another for Randolph-Macon as the visitors pulled away for the win. Despite the loss, it was one of Randolph's most complete games, as it got six different goal scorers. Allman and Gleitz each had four goals for the hosts, while Risse finished with four helpers.
Wood added a goal and two assists, as he finished the season as Randolph's single-season goal scoring leader with 33. Wood tied for the single-season points lead with 40, as Risse had a single-year high of 19 assists and 40 points. First-year Cam Davis (Gibsonville, N.C./Western Alamance) made nine saves, and ended the year just four saves short of the single-season record of 213.
Sophomore Ryan Mahon (Monroe, N.Y./Peddie School) had four caused turnovers, while Baden James (Alexandria, Va./Edison) added three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Junior Ryan Pearson (Asbury, N.J./North Hunterdon) finished his best season as a WildCat with a great performance, causing three turnovers to go with five ground balls and an assist. Senior Ryan Blackwell (Brambleton, Va./Briar Woods) also had two caused turnovers and three loose balls.
Jason Andrews led the Yellow Jackets with four goals and two assists, and Davidson finished with four goals as well. Justin Butler tallied three times, and Thomas Smith made 12 stops in net.
The WildCats finish their 2013 season with the most wins in a season in program history, while also earning their first ODAC wins ever.
