Randolph Women's Tennis Picks Up Big ODAC Win Over Virginia Wesleyan College 5-4

                LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College women's tennis team got clutch wins late from sophomores Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) and Kaitlyn Kolster (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) as the WildCats earned an important Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday morning.

                Randolph (6-3/3-3 ODAC) picked up two of the three doubles points, as Verdezoto and Kolster paired together to earn an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. The WildCats also earned a point at No. 3 doubles after the Marlins (6-10/4-3 ODAC) had to default at that position.

                Virginia Wesleyan College was able to tie the match at three contests apiece after the Marlins earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles and Randolph picked up a No. 6 default win. Randolph got a huge victory by Kolster at No. 4 singles, as she captured a 6-4, 6-2 win to push the WildCats up 4-3.VWC chalked up a win at No. 5 singles, but Verdezoto was able to win a marathon 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1) victory at No. 2 singles to pull the upset.

                The win over Virginia Wesleyan was important as it pulled Randolph into a tie for seventh place with Randolph-Macon College. It was also marked the second consecutive season the WildCats have knocked off the Marlins.

                Randolph will take on Roanoke College Friday afternoon at home at 4 p.m. in more ODAC play.
