WildCat Women's Tennis Wins Thriller Over Emory & Henry College 5-4

                EMORY, Va. – The WildCat women's tennis team, which was playing its third match in the last four days, picked up a gritty 5-4 road victory over Emory & Henry College in conference action Saturday afternoon.

                The WildCats (4-2/1-2 ODAC) were able to come out of doubles play up 2-1, getting points at No. 2 and No. 3 pairs. In No. 2 action, sophomore Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) and Kaitlyn Koster (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) ran their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record to 3-0 with an 8-1 win.

                No. 3 doubles pairing Emmalyn Snead  (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) and Danielle Lewis (Kingston, Jamaica/Immaculate Conception) earned their fourth win together with an 8-6 win. Randolph continued to get results at No. 1 singles, as Dina Velazco (Barquisimeto, Venezuela / Colegio Las Fuertes) earned her third league win and second at No. 1 with a straight sets triumph (6-2, 6-4).

                Kolster picked up a victory at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 decision, her fourth win of the season, while Lewis was able to earn her first ODAC win of the year with a critical 6-4, 6-4 victory. Snead played a great match, coming up just short with scores of 5-7, 6-3, 10-7. Verdezoto also lost a heartbreaker, falling 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

                The win marked the second consecutive win for Randolph over the Wasps, as it picked up a 5-3 win last here in play from Lynchburg. The WildCats will now set their sights on league leader Washington and Lee University Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the Randolph Tennis Courts.
