SALEM, VA – The Randolph College men's tennis team got another singles win from first-year Daniil Lyalko (Reisterstown, MD/Park School of Baltimore) but couldn't overcome an early deficit in falling to Roanoke College 8-1 Tuesday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Roanoke (3-9/2-4 ODAC) got wins in all three doubles matches, though Lyalko and Shaun Chopp (Williamsburg, VA/Hampton Roads Academy) played a tight match at No. 1 pairs, falling 8-5. Lyalko earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at the top singles flight, but Randolph (4-9/1-6 ODAC) was unable to pick up any other matches. First-year Mitch Franko (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe) played the first set, falling in a tiebreak before falling 6-0 in the second set.
Randolph is back in action Thursday afternoon at home against Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m. on the Randolph Tennis Courts.
