HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team finished its 2012 season Saturday afternoon with a 14-5 loss at Hampden-Sydney College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The WildCats finished the season with a program record three wins this season, as Randolph gets set to enter the second year under Andy Sinclair in 2013.

In the season finale with the Tigers, Randolph hung with the perennial conference powerhouse for the first quarter, leading 2-1 with 2:40 left in the quarter after an unassisted goal from sophomore Colton Wood (Chula Vista, VA/Otay Ranch) . H-SC (9-6/5-2 ODAC) netted the next five goals of the game, taking a 6-2 lead.

Wood would stop the run with a man-up goal with help from junior Stephen Allman (Goodview, VA/Roanoke Catholic ) , who played his final game with the WildCats Saturday. The story of the game was the third period though, as the Tigers outscored Randolph 4-0 to push the game out of reach for the WildCats.

Senior keeper Kevin McCracken (Annandale, VA/Annandale) finished his fantastic career with the WildCats, as he has started every game in net since the program's start back in 2009. He made 13 saves Saturday to finish with 776 saves all-time, fourth best ever in the conference. Fellow senior Greg Herrick (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) also finished his Randolph career, as he picked up a season-high five ground balls for the WildCats.

Wood finished the game with four goals, upping his season total to 30, a new program high for the WildCats. Junior John Croney (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) added a goal for the WildCats, while sophomore faceoff man John Grundy (Gainesville, VA/Battlefield) won 10-of-19 face-offs, picking up a team-high eight ground balls.

Junior defender Ryan Blackwell (Brambleton, VA/Briar Woods) finished his great season with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, as he led the WildCats in both categories this season. Randolph was outshot 46-15 on the day, and suffered from 33 turnovers. The WildCats did win the face-off battle though.

Randolph finished the season 3-12 on the year, dropping its ODAC record to 0-7 on the campaign.
