Verdezoto Continues To Shine But WildCat Women Fall at Bridgewater 7-2

BRIDGEWATER, VA – First-year Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) upped her singles record to 8-2 Friday afternoon but the WildCat women's tennis was knocked off by Bridgewater College 7-2 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

Verdezoto and partner Kaitlyn Kolster (Powhatan, VA/Powhatan) earned their fourth win of the season at No. 2 doubles, capturing their match 9-7. With the WildCats trailing 2-1 after doubles, Randolph needed to earn four wins in singles to capture the victory. Verdezoto took care of her opponent at No. 1 singles in straight sets.

Kolster battled at No. 4 to pick up a match for the WildCats, but fell in a tie break in the first set 6-2 before dropping the second set 6-0. No. 2 Anna Culpepper (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) and No. 3 Janie Campbell (Fredericksburg, VA/James Monroe) were both in the match, but couldn't come up with victories as the WildCats dropped the match 7-2.

The Randolph women's tennis squad will not turn its attention to Sunday afternoon and a non-conference outing against UVA-Wise in Wise, VA.
