BRIDGEWATER, VA — Randolph College traveled up I-81 Friday afternoon to take on the Eagles of Bridgewater College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup, but couldn't get much going as the Eagles captured a 9-0 win over the WildCats.
In doubles play, the WildCats earned only two games over the three matches in falling behind 3-0 after pairs. The singles flights were much of the same, as the young WildCat squad couldn't finish games despite putting together solid rallies.
First-year Daniil Lyalko (Reisterstown, MD/Park School of Baltimore) lost at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-3, while Zach Dales (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque) dropped his No. 6 singles match with the same scores. Randolph was forced to go up against a familiar face Friday, as former WildCat No. 1 and now Eagle Sam Churchill earned two wins for Bridgewater.
The WildCats will look to rebound Sunday afternoon at UVA-Wise at 1 p.m. in a non-conference match.
