Box Score

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Junior Corey Sindle (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) scored two second-half tallies to erase a first-half deficit as the Randolph College men's soccer team snatched a 2-1 victory from Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

The Tigers (2-9/1-4 ODAC) were first to get on the board, scoring on their first shot of the contest. At the 3:46 mark of the game, Nick DeProspero eluded his defender and weaved in on goal, beating WildCat keeper CJ Stevens (Mechanicsville, VA/Lee-Davis) for the opening tally. Hampden-Sydney won the shot battle in the first half 9-5, and hit the crossbar on an attempt as well.

The second half was a different story, as the WildCats came out of the break with a renewed spirit. In the 51st minute, Randolph equalized on Sindle's first tally of the contest, as he headed in a gorgeous cross from Jacob Lusczek (Fredericksburg, VA/Chancellor). The tally for Sindle was his sixth of the season, with the assist being Lusczek's fourth.

Just 15 minutes later, Sindle converted a free kick from right outside the box following a foul. The free kick score was Sindle's second in as many game, and upped his season total to seven, which is second in the conference. Randolph's defense fended off any Tiger advances, earning its third ODAC victory of the season.

Randolph and Hampden-Sydney both took 16 shots apiece on the afternoon, though the hosts had eight corners to the four of Randolph. Blake Carrey made five stops in net for the Tigers, and Stevens made a pair of saves to earn his fifth win of the season. Sindle took a game-high six shots, while Lusczek fired four as well.

The WildCats will look to extend their four-match unbeaten streak on Saturday, as they head to Virginia Beach, VA to take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College at 2 p.m.
