WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Randolph College women's soccer remain undefeated after a 2-0 shutout win over the Bruins of Carolina University on Saturday evening.
Despite the Bruins holding a 10-9 shot advantage over the WildCats in the first half, it was early scoring that gave the WildCats momentum.
Bailey Richardson put one in the back of the net just three minutes into the game with an assist from
Holly Bermingham.
Carolina continued to pressure the WildCat defense, with keeper
Kacie Walker recording five saves in the half. However, the WildCats turned the pressure back on the Bruins and netted their second goal in the 27th minute by
Madison Booker.
With the WildCats leading 2-0 at the half, the Bruins needed something to avoid the shutout; however, with six shots, Carolina could not slip past Randolph's defense. Both teams remained scoreless in the second half.
Carolina had the slight advantage in the shot category with 16 shots and seven on target to Randolph's 12 shots and four on target. Walker collected seven saves on the night. Richardson led all players with eight shots and three on goal.
Randolph is at Averett to open ODAC play on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
