LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph Director of Athletics
Tom Galbraith announced Thursday that
Logan Fletcher has been hired as the school's first head strength and conditioning coach.
According to Galbraith, the newly created position signifies a level of institutional commitment to the growth and competitiveness of the department, which has expanded over the past two years to include 22 varsity sports and over 350 participants for the WildCats.
"We created the position to improve the development of our student-athletes and teams," Galbraith said. "And, in doing so, we also found the perfect fit for the position and the person to build our strength program from the ground up in hiring Logan."
While Fletcher has spent the past three years at Towson University (Md.) on the strength and conditioning staff for the Tigers, and also has NCAA Division I experience as an assistant at Texas A&M, an intern at Virginia Tech, and a volunteer at Radford (Va.), he is no stranger to Div. III having completed his graduate work at Springfield College (Mass.) and serving as a graduate assistant coach.
His performance training experience includes a wide variety of sports from women's soccer to wrestling to ultimate frisbee and nearly everything in between. His breadth of experience was a valuable asset in the eyes of the search committee.
"I'm most excited to meet the student-athletes and begin developing a weight room culture of training for performance at Randolph," said Fletcher. "I hope to accomplish an improvement in athletic performance, resilience, and educate the athletes on enhanced recovery techniques."
Fletcher noted that he was impressed with the campus on his visit. "The campus is beautiful. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I noticed how faculty from different departments seem to truly know each other. You don't get that sense of community at bigger schools."
The Roanoke area native is also no stranger to Central Virginia. A graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, Fletcher earned a bachelor of science degree in Health and Human Performance from Radford in 2018. He also holds a master's in strength and conditioning from Springfield in 2021.
Fletcher is set to begin his duties at Randolph on September 15th.
