LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team was back on the court on Saturday morning as they hosted Bridgewater in an ODAC match at Giles Gymnasium. The Eagles defeated the WildCats by the score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-16).
The Eagles led 3-0 to begin the first set. Randolph closed to within two points at 3-2 but BC pushed ahead as it increased its lead to 10-5 and then went on a 6-0 run to lead 16-6. The WildCats responded with a run of their own of 5-0 to make it 16-11. Bridgewater ended the set on a 9-3 run to win 25-14.
BC started the second set on a 6-0 run and eventually led 12-3. The WildCats closed to within five points at 12-7. At 14-9, the Eagles' 11-3 run finished out the set.
Bridgewater led 5-0 in the first set but Randolph came back to tie it up at 6-6. The Eagles pushed ahead to lead 13-6. The WildCats tried to stay at arm's length from BC but the Eagles were too much in the end as they won 25-16.
Caroline Towle (Warrenton,Va./Fauquier) had a seven kill, six dig effort for the WildCats. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) finished with 18 assists and six digs. Abby Maldonado (High Point, N.C./Penn-Griffin SOTA) had a team-high 13 digs.
Randolph host St. Mary's College of Maryland in non-conference action on Tuesday. Match time is at 6:30 p.m.
