LYNCHBURG, Va. - Randolph women's soccer welcomed the Royals of Regent University to WildCat Stadium for a weekend match-up. Both teams kept each other off the scoreboard in the first half, but the second half saw the WildCats net two goals to defeat the Royals, 2-0.
The first half was a defensive clinic for both teams. The score remained 0-0 heading into halftime. The WildCats tallied 11 shots in the first half to lead the Royals who tallied two shots.
Going into the second half, both teams were looking to break the ice first. It wasn't until the 77-minute mark when
Madison Booker took a shot from the right side and it soared in. The 'Cats led 1-0 with plenty of time remaining for the Royals to answer back. However, Booker, assisted by
Alana Ellis, netted her third goal of the season in the 83-minute to put the WildCats up 2-0.
Regent looked for an answer but nothing was breaking past the Randolph defense. The 'Cats take the win to remain undefeated at home.
Randolph led Regent in shots 28-3 and shots on goal 18-3.
Rachel Fields picked up three saves and Regent goalkeeper Kristen Miller had 16 saves on the day.
Next, the WildCats travel to Raleigh, N.C. to play Meredith College on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
