Men’s Soccer Falls to Eastern Mennonite

HARRISONBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team went on the road Saturday to Eastern Mennonite. A scoreless first half gave way to three goals in the second period as the host Royals won 2-1 over the WildCats.

The teams were even in shots in the first half 7-7. The Royals had two shots on frame compared to just one for the WildCats.

Both defenses were tight in the first nine minutes of the second period as there was just one shot taken by either team. EMU broke through in the 55th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Royals' second goal came just over six minutes later at 60:33. The WildCats got on the board a little over nine minutes after on a Sage Dombrovkis (Ruckersville, Va./William Monroe) goal. Randolph had one more opportunity try to tie the game in the 86th minute as Anelka Ngoy's (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) shot was saved by Eastern Mennonite keeper Andrew Arledge.

The Royals would lead in total shots 16-13 and held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. Corner kicks favored Randolph 6-4.

WildCat goalkeeper Dominic Cortes (Annandale, Va./Annandale HS) had five saves on the afternoon. Arledge finished with two saves for EMU.

Randolph returns home to host Roanoke on Wednesday. Game time from WildCat Stadium is at 7:00 p.m.
