Women’s Volleyball Defeats Wilson 3-0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The Randolph women's volleyball team played its second consecutive road match in as many days as it traveled to southern Pennsylvania to face Wilson College in a non-conference tilt. The WildCats won all three sets as they handled the Phoenix 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-13). Randolph improves to 8-5 overall on the season.

The host Phoenix led early in the first set 6-1. Randolph closed to within one point at 8-7 but Wilson started to pull away with a 6-1 run to lead 14-8 and eventually 20-14. The WildCats then ripped off a remarkable 11-0 run to come back and overtake the Phoenix and win the set 25-20.

Randolph began to pick up where it left off as it led in the second set 15-6. Wilson started to chip away at its deficit as it closed to within six points at 20-14. Randolph would go on to outscore Wilson 5-1 to win 25-15.

The third set saw the score tied at one point 10-10. It was all WildCats from there on out as they went on a 15-3 run to overtake the Phoenix and win 25-13.

Jillian Warter (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County HS) and Brooklyn Finnerty (Lynchburg, Va./Timberlake) led the way for Randolph with seven kills each. Warter added nine digs to also lead the 'Cats. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) led with nine assists and Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) chipped in eight assists. Domenech and Brooke Murdock (Evington, Va./Timberlake Christian) both had four service aces and Randolph's 14 total aces were a season high. Murdock also totaled four block assists and three kills.

The WildCats make the short trip across town for an ODAC matchup with the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday. The match at Turner Gym begins at 6:00 p.m.
