LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team hosted Randolph-Macon in its ODAC opener on Tuesday night at Giles Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets took all three sets from the WildCats as they would win 3-0.
Randolph started the first set strong as they got out ahead 3-0. Randolph-Macon came back to go ahead 8-6 but the WildCats rattled off five straight points to grab the lead back and go ahead 11-8. A 4-0 run by the 'Jackets put the visiting team up 12-11. The teams exchanged points until Randolph took a 16-15 lead. Randolph-Macon went on a 10-5 run down the stretch to win the set 25-21.
The second set was close early on with Randolph-Macon holding on to a 10-8 lead. The 'Jackets went on an 11-1 run to jump out in front 22-9 on their way to a 25-15 set win.
The WildCats kept pace with the Yellow Jackets early on in the third set. A 17-13 lead was 20-15 Randolph-Macon as the 'Cats tried to claw their way back but RMC was too much in the end as it ended the frame on a 5-0 run to win 25-15.
Brooke Murdock (Evington, Va./Timberlake Christian) led the team with seven kills to go with one solo block and three block assists. McKayla Padgett (Amherst, Va./Amherst County HS) had nine digs with Tahani Villines (Whittset, N.C./Williams) adding eight digs. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) finished with eight assists and Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) seven assists.
Randolph travels to Winchester on Friday to face Shenandoah. The match begins at 6:00 p.m.
