LYNCHBURG, Va. - Women's Soccer secured a 3-0 win against Regent University.
A pressured performance early on the opposing defense with shots from the WildCats which were all denied by the Royals' goalie Kristen Miller. However, the breakthrough came when first-year
Holly Bermingham capitalized, netting the game's first goal, giving Randolph the momentum they needed to control the tempo and a 1-0 lead. The 'Cats held on to the lead at the break.
In the second half, Randolph continued their offensive pressure and Regent had no defensive response. Junior
Alana Ellis doubled the lead with a well-placed shot on an assist and free kick from graduate student
Carlynne Wright at the 65:43 minute mark, and first-year
Rozzalyn Jackson sealed the win with a late goal.
Randolph was efficient on the attack, recording 11 shots, 9 of which were on target. Regent University managed 8 shots but could not find a way to break through the WildCats' defense. WildCat goalkeeper junior
Rachel Fields made four saves to earn the shutout.
The 'Cats return home on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. when they face Meredith College at WildCat Stadium.
