LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team made the short trip across town to the University of Lynchburg for a midweek ODAC match against the Hornets. Lynchburg scored once in both the first and second halves and held the WildCats off the scoreboard as they won 2-0.
Randolph drops to 3-5-5 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. Lynchburg improves to 7-2-2 overall and 5-1 in the ODAC play.
Both teams had shots on the goal in the first three minutes of play. The Hornets tallied three more shots until William Casey got one past WildCat keeper Carter Kelly (Carrollton, Va./Smithfield) at 17:07 to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. Randolph had only other shot on frame, by Jayden Buckles (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford), that came in the 37th minute.
Lynchburg led 6-1 in shots in the second half.
Overall, the Hornets held a 13-5 advantage in total shots and 5-2 in shots on goal. There were just three corner kicks in the contest with Lynchburg leading 2-1 in the category.
Kelly finished with three saves.
Randolph returns to action next Wednesday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
