DANVILLE, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team played its final regular season road match of the season as the WildCats travelled to Averett on Wednesday. The Cougars topped the WildCats by the score of 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 18-25).

Both teams alternated points and the lead in the early goings of the first set. The WildCats trailed 11-10 until the Cougars went on a 6-0 run to pull away and go up 17-10. Randolph closed to 17-13 but AU used an 8-2 run to outlast the WildCats and win the set 25-15.

The second set saw Averett get out to a big 12-2 advantage. The WildCats rallied and came back to close to three points at 18-15. The Cougars pulled away with a 7-2 run to claim the set 25-17.

The WildCats started strong in the third set as they took a 5-1 lead. While the Cougars tried to grab the lead away, Randolph fended off the attack as it led 11-10. Averett broke away but the WildCats only trailed 20-18. A 5-0 run by AU prevented a WildCat comeback as the Cougars won the frame 25-18 to take the match.

Jillian Warter (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) led with 10 kills. Jamie Gallinis (Greenville, N.C./DH Conley) added six kills and .385 on the night. Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) led in assists with 14 and chipped in eight digs. McKayla Padgett (Amherst, Va./Amherst County HS) and Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) both had nine digs.

Randolph returns home to host Mary Washington on Saturday. Match time is at 12:00 p.m.
