Randolph College Women's Soccer fell in a hard-fought 2-1 match against Randolph-Macon at home. Despite a strong defensive effort and competitive play throughout, the WildCats were unable to overcome the Yellow Jackets.
The match saw Randolph-Macon take an early lead, scoring the first goal in the opening half at 3:14 minute from Natalie Moxey, who was assisted by Riley Russ. The WildCats pushed back, creating opportunities and applying pressure, but the Yellow Jackets added a second goal from Ally Spangler, assisted by Lillian Holt, giving them a 2-0 advantage. Holly Bermingham took the penalty kick for the WildCats and scored to put a point on the board before ending the half.Â
The WildCats looking for the equalizer and the Yellow Jackets trying to keep the WildCats from scoring dominated the second half. As the minutes wound down, each team held each other scoreless until the clock hit zero.
Overall, the Yellow Jackets held a 24-8 advantage in total shots and 11-3 shots on goal. There were eight corner kicks with Randolph-Macon leading 7-1.
