Men's Soccer Falls 0-2 to Bridgewater in ODAC Clash

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Randolph College men's soccer team took a midweek trip to Bridgewater for an ODAC matchup. Scoreless after the first, the Eagles responded with two goals in the second half holding the WildCats off the scoreboard to win 2-0.

Randolph drops to 3-7-5 overall and 2-5-1 in the conference. Bridgewater improves to 7-5-4 overall and 3-4-1 in the conference.

Both teams held off each other defensively in the first half. The WildCats tallied one more shot than the Eagles in the first half and both teams had equal scoring opportunities from the corner. However, neither team could capitalize on taking the lead, leaving the first-half stalemate.

The second half saw much more action. The Eagles put up 11 shots to the WildCats two shots in this half. Bridgewater got the advantage off a corner kick that flew into the box and off of Will Flores past Randolph keeper Carter Kelly into the net at 62:21 for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles continued to pressure the WildCat defense taking several shots and in the 76th minute, Bridgewater sealed the game with a goal from Riley Queen, assisted by Declan Gallagher.

Despite Randolph's efforts to claw back into the game, they were unable to break down the Eagles' defense.

Anelka Ngoy had two shots and two shots on goal. Kelly finished with five saves.

The 'Cats return to action Saturday when they head to Ashland, Va. for a noon match-up against Randolph-Macon.
