NORFOLK, Va.- The Randolph women's volleyball team traveled eastward on Wednesday for a non-conference tilt with Christopher Newport. The Captains won 3-0 (14-25, 12-25, 22-25).

Randolph tallied the first point of the first set but the Captains rattled off nine straight points to lead 9-1. The WildCats got to within five points at 11-6 but that was close as they would get as CNU held off the 'Cats and won 25-14.

In the second set, it was tied at 4-4. Christopher Newport edged ahead 9-4 and stayed comfortably ahead for the rest of the set.

Randolph kept pace with CNU early on in the third set as it led 10-7. The WildCats led as late as 19-18 but CNU went on a 6-0 run to take a 24-19 lead. The WildCats rallied to get to within two points at 24-22 but the Captains got match point to win 25-22.

Jillian Warter (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County HS) led with 10 kills and hit .389 on the night. Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) and Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) both had nine kills. Tahani Villines (Whittset, N.C./Williams) led in digs with eight. Brooke Murdock (Evington, Va./Timberlake Christian) had three block assists and three solo blocks for Randolph.

The WildCats are idle for the next eight days. They return to ODAC play on October 11 when the team travels to Guilford. The match begins at 6:00 p.m.
