GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph women's volleyball team returned to the court on Friday as the WildCats faced Guilford in an ODAC match. The Quakers won by the score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22).
In the first set, the Quakers got out ahead 8-2 and then led 12-5. Randolph cut into the Guilford lead as it trailed 13-9. The WildCats were within six points at 21-15 but GC went on a 4-1 run at the end to win the set 25-16.
The WildCats took an early 2-0 lead in the second set. Guilford came back with a run to go ahead 17-8. With the score at 23-12, the 'Cats went on a late 7-0 run to claw their back in at 23-19 but the Quakers tallied back-to-back kills to take the frame 25-19.
Guilford led 2-1 in third set but the WildCats got on a roll as they went on a 10-0 run to go ahead 11-2. GC began to chip away at the Randolph advantage closing in at one point to 14-13. An 8-3 run by the 'Cats put Randolph at 22-16 and in position to take the set. Guilford, however, would not be denied as it went on a 9-0 run to come back and win 25-22.
Jillian Warter (Leesburg, Va./Loudon County) paced the WildCat offense with eight kills. Brooke Murdock (Evington, Va./Timberlake Christian) put up six kills while hitting a team-best .385 on the evening. She had two service aces, six total blocks, and five digs. Jayda Domenech (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) had a double-double of 12 assists and 10 digs. Tahani Villines (Whittset, N.C./Williams) led in digs with 15.
Randolph returns home to host Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night. Match time is at 6:00 p.m.
