GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Randolph women's soccer team drops its road contest against the Quakers of Guilford, 0-2.
Guilford pushed early on offense resulting in four shots and four corner kicks in the first 10 minutes. However, the WildCats defense held strong to keep the ball out of their net. After trading possession back and forth it was the Quakers that capitalized late in the first half from a goal by Karly Griffin. The half ended with a Quaker advantage, 1-0.
In the second half, both teams were evenly matched offensively and defensively for the majority of the second half. However, once again, the Quakers found the back of the net in the 80th minute mark with a goal by Ainsley Yates and a double assist from Kylie Muse and Zekiah Johnson, to lead 2-0 over the WildCats.
For the remaining 10 minutes of the second half, the WildCats pushed for a look to put a goal on the board, but the Guilford defense held firm and the match ended.
The Quakers outshot the WildCats 17-4 with 7-2 shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper tallied five saves in the game.
The 'Cats are back on the road, Friday, for a match-up against Ferrum College at 7 p.m.
