LYNCHBUG, Va.- The Randolph men's soccer team hosted Greensboro in a non-conference match on Saturday evening at WildCat Stadium. Brian Kuhl's (Gissen, Germany) goal less than a minute into the contest was all the WildCats needed as they won 1-0 over the Pride.
Randolph improves its overall record to 4-2-2 while Greensboro remains winless at 0-8.
Kuhl's goal came 43 seconds into the first period off an assist from Cooper Sayles (Hamilton, Va./Loudon Valley). The Greensboro defense kept the WildCats in check for the remainder of the period as they held the 'Cats to two shots on goal following the score and just one shot from the 22nd minute on.
In the second half, the WildCats had six shots to Greensboro's three. The only Randolph shot on frame came from Gavin Leverette (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) in the 83rd minute.
It was a physical game throughout as over 20 fouls were called and nine yellow cards issued.
Randolph finished the game with a 12-7 lead in shots and 4-2 in shots on goal. Starting keeper Carter Kelly (Carrollton, Va./Smithfield) had just one save for the WildCats. Cristian Del Cid Portillo had three saves for the Pride.
The WildCats return to ODAC play on Wednesday as they travel to Danville to take on Averett. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
