LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team hosted Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday afternoon at WildCat Stadium. The teams played to a 1-1 tie.
Randolph took the lead in the first half as Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook) assisted Sterlyn Woodward (Madison, Va./Madison County) at 18:28. The Randolph defense did not allow a shot to the Royals in the period as the WildCats totaled 10 overall.
The WildCat lead stood for almost nine and a half minutes into the second half. Lyndsay Harris would score for the Royals at 54:24. Randolph had just one shot on goal for the remainder of the second half.
EMU led in shots in the second frame 5-3. The WildCats still finished with a dominating 13-5 advantage in total shots but just 5-3 in shots on goal.
Starting keeper Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) finished with two saves for the 'Cats. Her counterpart for Eastern Mennonite Anna Filipkowski came away with four saves.
Randolph heads to Roanoke on Saturday. Game time from Salem will be at 1:30 p.m.
