SALEM, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team traveled to Salem on Saturday to face Roanoke. The Maroons scored three times in the second on their way to 3-0 victory over the WildCats.
The game was scoreless in the first half. RC registered a pair of shots on frame in the first 17 minutes that were both turned away by Randolph keeper Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice HS). The WildCats had one shot on goal by Alana Ellis (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) in the 16th minute.
Roanoke got on the board in the 58th minute of the contest. Less than two minutes later, the Maroons were granted a penalty kick which they converted to up their lead to 2-0. The third goal was scored in the 80th minute.
The WildCats did not have a shot on goal in the second period. Overall, Roanoke had an 11-4 advantage in shots and 6-1 in shots on goal.
Bossi started the game and made two saves in the first half. Abby Gilbert (Virginia Beach, Va.) came on in the second half and recorded one save.
Randolph will next travel to Bridgewater on Wednesday. Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
