"That was a physical game for 40 minutes," said head coach Pete Hamilton. "I think we handled it well at times and poorly in others but credit to our players for sticking together and finding a way. We struggled to guard at times but we got some big stops when we needed it."
Bickey matched his career high with 34 points. He shot 9-of-25 overall, 6-of-13 in three-point attempts, and 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. Moustapha Diop (Fuquay Varina, N.C./Apex Friendship) and Wiehe both added 12 points each. Amari Gorham (Yorktown, Va./Yorktown) had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
"Bickey obviously stands out in the box score and rightly so - what a performance, said Hamilton. "He stuck with it and fought through some frustration at the half. He hit a big one on the last possession of the first half to get himself some confidence and then went out and had 26 in the second half and overtime. We executed a great action with about 30 seconds to go and he nailed it putting us up four points. I don't think Evan Wiehe and Moustapha Diop's offensive production should be overlooked. Both of those guys were able to attack matchups in stretches when we were stagnant. They each hit big buckets for us late and in OT."
Randolph returns home to host Mary Baldwin in a non-conference game on Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
