Women’s Soccer Drops ODAC Contest to Hornets

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team made the short trip across town to the University of Lynchburg campus to face the Hornets on Wednesday evening. The Hornets won the match by the score of 4-0.

Randolph's overall record now stands at 7-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in ODAC play. Lynchburg improves to 9-3-2 overall and 5-0-2 in the conference.

The WildCat defense held firm for nearly 30 minutes of game time in the first period. The 'Cats blocked four Hornets shots while keeper Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice) made three saves and Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) also saved a shot from going into the net. Lynchburg finally struck at 29:59 to lead 1-0 at halftime.

The Hornets tallied their second and third goals of the night less than two minutes apart in the 47th and 49 minutes. The game's final goal came in the 70th minute.

Bossi finished with five saves in 79:37 of game time. Abby Gilbert (Virginia Beach, Va.) came in for the final 10:23 and had one save.

Lynchburg led in total shots 23-2 and in shots on goal 12-1.

The WildCats travel to Hollins this coming Saturday. Game time will be at 2:00 p.m.
