LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team recognized its five seniors on Saturday afternoon before its game against Virginia Wesleyan. The Marlins won the game by the score of 6-0.
The five seniors who were honored were: Alexis Bossi (Falls Church, Va./Justice), Joanne Torres (North Chesterfield, Va./Meadowbrook), Carlynne Wright (Lynchburg, Va./Jefferson Forest), Taylor Batty (Hampton, Va./Kecougtan), and Melody Washington (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor).
Bossi played 80:34 of game time and made eight saves. In her career to date, she has started 39 of 41 games. Prior to today's game, Her 1.68 GAA is tied for second-lowest in program history. She has a .706 save % and 149 total saves. She plans to graduate with a BS in Biology and attend grad school to get a criminology degree and work for Crime Scene Investigation.
Torres played 71 minutes and registered one shot on goal. She has started 44 of 45 games in her WildCat career totaling 12 goals, seven assists, and 31 points. She has been named to the ODAC Academic Team and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma. A biology major, after graduating from Randolph, she plans to get her Master's in Exercise Science.
Wright played all 90 minutes. She has started all 46 games in three seasons as the anchor of the back line and has scored five goals. Wright has been named the ODAC Academic Team three times and once to the College Sports Communicators All-District Team. She is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. After graduating at the end of the fall semester, she has been accepted into the Master's Program in Coaching and Sport Leadership at Randolph and plans to begin in January of 2024. Once completing the Master's program, she hopes to be a Collegiate soccer coach.
Batty played 85 minutes. She has played in 60 games and made 36 starts. She has two goals and one assist. After Randolph, she plans on expanding her education with a master's from Tusculum University as a general assistant with their women's soccer program. From there she hopes to become a Division 1 women's soccer coach and also serve in the United States Military.
Washington played 60 minutes. In her first season with the team, she has started six of 12 games. An engineering major with a minor in Cybersecurity, after graduation she plans on getting her cybersecurity certifications while pursuing a career in web development or software engineering.
Randolph makes the short trip across town on Wednesday to face the University of Lynchburg. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
