GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Randolph's men's soccer team traveled to North Carolina for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Guilford. A pair of goals by Brian Kuhl (Fredericksburg, Va./James Monroe) helped lead the WildCats to a 2-1 victory.
The win improves Randolph's record to 4-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Quakers fall to 1-4-3 and 0-2 in the conference.
The game was not even a minute old as Noah Carney (Charleston. W.V./Homeschool) found Kuhl for his first goal of the afternoon 16 seconds into the half. Kuhl struck again in the 14th minute on assists by Ashton Poythress (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) and Zach Aylor (Vinton, Va./William Byrd) to give the WildCats a 2-0 lead. Guilford scored in the 38th minute to make it a 2-1 contest at halftime.
Guilford outshot Randolph 4-2 in the second half. Two of the Quakers' shots were turned away by Aylor. Aylor stopped three shots in the net on the day for the WildCats
Overall, Randolph had an 8-7 advantage in total shots. Guilford led in shots on frame 4-3.
The WildCats return home to host Ferrum on Wednesday night. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
